Altai was first published in the book Nomad Knits, a collaboration between Nomadnoos and Amirisu Publishing. The design is now available as a single pattern. It has been tech edited and test knitted. Both English and Japanese files are included in your download.

Inspired by the Altai Mountains and the vast Mongolian landscape, the Altai Scarf draws on the natural beauty of its origins. Named after the mountain range that borders the Mongolian plateau, this design reflects the shapes of mountains, flowing streams, smooth river rocks, and trees from the region where Dry Desert Camel yarn is sourced.

Subtle shifts in colour dominance, colour blocks, and stripes create tonal transitions that evoke the atmosphere of the Gobi Desert—misty, dusty, and expansive. The palette blends the warm tones of sand and camels with the cool hues of twilight, capturing the serene contrast of the landscape.

Designed as a tube scarf, it features a clean, chic finish with no exposed floats. Its slim, elongated shape allows for versatile styling—drape, wrap, loop, or knot it to suit your mood. Though lightweight in appearance, the double-layered tube construction offers surprising warmth.
