“In classical Greek mythology, Syrinx was a nymph and a follower of Artemis, known for her chastity. Pursued by the amorous god Pan, she ran to a river’s edge and asked for assistance from the river nymphs. In answer, she was transformed into hollow water reeds that made a haunting sound when the god’s breath blew across them. Pan cut the reeds to fashion the first set of panpipes, which were thenceforth known as syrinx. “

The sample was knit in Size 3 with 7 cm / 2¾” positive ease at bust.

NOTES AND TECHNIQUES

This pullover is worked in the round from the hem to the underarm. The front and back are worked flat and shaped at the shoulders with short rows before being joined with 3-needle bind-off. Sleeve stitches are picked up around the armhole and worked in the round to the cuff. Finally, stitches are picked up around the neck to complete the collar in the round.
